Dr. Daniel Koch is now working as an independent crisis management and communications consultant (since June 2020). He became a familiar and popular personality throughout Switzerland due to his assignment to the management of the Corona pandemic and his active participation in the media as the COVID-19 delegate of the Swiss Federal Office for Public Health, and as the head of the FOPH’s Communicable Diseases Division. Daniel Koch studied medicine at the University of Berne and completed his postgraduate studies in public health at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He held several positions at the ICRC for over 14 years (amongst others as medical coordinator in various conflict zones) before joining the FOPH in 2002 where he worked in various departments. He was also a member of the SARS pandemic and the H5N1 avian ‘flu Task Forces.
